Christopher J. Waller is the Gilbert Schaefer Chair of Economics and a Research Fellow of the Center for European Integration Studies at the University of Bonn. He was a professor at Indiana University (1985-1998) and held the C.M. Gatton Chair of Monetary Economics at the University of Kentucky (1998-2003). Professor Waller has been a Visiting Professor at Washington University, the University of Mannheim and the National University of Ukraine-Kiev. His research interests include monetary theory, dollarization and the political economy of central banking. His research has been published in American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, International Economic Review and many other journals. He is currently an Associate Editor at the European Economic Review, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and the Journal of Macroeconomics. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the Federal Reserve Banks of St. Louis and Cleveland, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Economics Education and Research Consortium.
